French 'Eiffage' Named General Builder of Anaklia Port
Eiffage Europe, the largest construction company, is entering Georgia to work on the Anaklia Deep Sea Port. “It will be the General Contractor of "Anaklia Development Consortium" and will carry out construction works for the first phase of Anaklia Port with partner companies, in particular with Swiss ABB and Georgian CRP," Anaklia Development Consortium announced.
The world's leading construction and engineering companies participated in the international tender for Anaklia general contractor. The competition was held in several stages and the consortium has chosen the French 'Eiffage,' which is among Europe’s top five construction companies and has over 100,000 major projects worldwide. Eiffage will carry out construction works at the first phase of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, and 90% of the employees at the construction will be local residents. A total of 1,500 people will be employed on the construction.
"The French company has been actively involved in the completion of a detailed design of the first phase of the Anaklia Port," notes the Consortium.
Eiffage was founded in 1844. Projects implemented around the world include urban development as well as the directions of ports, motorways and energy systems’ construction.
