Historic Sites of Dusheti to Be Given New Life
Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia, and Maia Tskitishvili, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, along with other government officials traveled to the town of Dusheti, met with the local residents and had a conversation regarding the upcoming restoration projects of Dusheti’s historical sites earlier today.
The initiative, financed by the Municipal Development Fund with more than 5 million GEL, envisages rehabilitation of nearly 40 houses, built in the 19th-20th centuries, 24 of which carry the status of cultural heritage.
The Head of the Government stated that the development of mountainous regions of the country represents one of the major priorities for the current government and accentuated the significance of this project.
”This region has unique tourism potential, which makes the implementation of these projects doubly valuable, so that the local population, within the shortest possible period, may enjoy greater economic benefits,” said Bakhtadze.
Aside from historic sites, the Georgian government is also implementing the rehabilitation project of the water supply system in Dusheti.
