Police Seize 20 kg Marijuana from Foreigner at Tbilisi Airport
As reported by the Revenue Service of Georgia, Customs Officers of the Finance Ministry, together with the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, seized 20 kg of marijuana at Tbilisi Airport during a search of the baggage of a citizen traveling from South Africa.
An investigation has been launched under paragraph VI, Article 273 and sub-paragraph “A”, paragraph IV, Article 262 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, involving the illegal import of especially large quantities of narcotic drugs to Georgia.
The crime is punishable by 15-20 years in prison, or life imprisonment.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, in total of six individuals have been detained for drug trafficking over the past several days.
Police seized up to four kilograms of heroin and 20 kg of marijuana from two of them.
