Special Forces Group Leave Koi-Tash

The Special Forces Group of Kyrgyzstan has left the village of Koi-Tash – the residence place of former president, Almazbek Atambayev.

The supporters of Atambayev have given out a promise that they would free the 6 captured members of special forces group. Their demand remains restoring electro energy and internet.

MFA of Kyrgyzstan reported that the removal of Special Forces group from the village took place in order to lessen the confrontation and now they expect the supporters of Almazbek Atambayev to keep up their promise.

On the evening of August 7, Special Services Group of Kyrgyzstan launched an operation to detain ex-president Atambayev at his residence in Koy-Tash (located in Kyrgyzstan's Chuy Region, 20 kilometers from the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek). Atambayev's supporters held their ground tightly, responding by opening fire. As a result, 52 people, including a local journalist, were injured, and one commando was killed. It  still turned impossible to detain the ex-president.

The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan has accused the former president of a range of crimes, including corruption and the expropriation of property. At the end of July, Atambayev refused to go into the Prosecutor’s Office to be questioned. The Law in Kyrgyzstan declares that if a civilian refuses to submit to the judicial process, he must be brought to the questioning using force. Atambayev, who was in office from 2011 to 2017, has said that the charges have been concocted by President Sooronbai Jeenbekov, who was once his protege.

Late at night, Atambayev spread a video recording of himself, in which he called the attempt of his imprisonment unconstitutional and lawless. As the former President Reported, he has offered written out answers to the Government but they continuously refused. Atambayev also made a point to assure the video watchers that he is still ready to be questioned and answer all the questions that might be directed at him as he finds himself completely innocent.
The Former President of Kyrgyzstan addressed the Government in the video, and asked them to abstain from use of forces as during the clashed of August 7, peaceful citizens were hurt.
