Nika Gvaramia: I Didn’t Expect a Such Shameful Move
Nika Gvaramia, the former Director-General of Rustavi 2 TV Company, has responded to today’s General Prosecutor’s Office decision to file charges against him in the Rustavi 2 case.
“I did not expect such a shameful move. I had the contract on loan with advertising company “Intermedia” and they paid it in nature. I sold my own house and gave money as a loan to “Intermedia” to pay salaries. All the documents are at “Intermedia” and the Prosecutor’s Office seized them while conducting the investigation at the Rustavi 2 TV building. You didn’t even ask about it during the interrogation. If there was any reason to file charges, why didn’t you mention the issue at all? Now wait for my response”, the former Director-General of Rustavi 2 wrote on social media.
Gvaramia is summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office today.
As stated at today’s briefing held at the Prosecutor’s Office, Gvaramia will be charged for abusing his power and making decisions which were harmful to the TV Channel.
The investigation has been launched under Article 220 of Criminal Code of Georgia, involving abuse of power against the legitimate interests of Rustavi 2 and misappropriation of a large amount of funds, which caused significant damage.
