Passenger Traffic Dynamics in Georgian Airports in July

In July 2019, the five airports of Georgia, operating in the cities of Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Mestia and Ambrolauri, catered for 571,848 passengers, which is 7.3% less in comparison with the same month of the last year, states the report published by the United Airports of Georgia.

The flight ban, applied by the Russian Federation towards Georgia, which came into force on July 8, has been named as the major reason of the decrease of the passenger flow.

The document of the United Airports of Georgia demonstrates that out of the three international (Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi) and two domestic (Mestia, Ambrolauri) airports, the one of the capital city was affected the most with 10% decline in the number of travelers, while Kutaisi International Airport saw the increase of the passenger traffic by 14% this month, serving for 85,738 individuals.

In January-July 2019, Georgian airports catered for 3,058,473 in total, which is 12% more, compared to the same timeframe of the year of 2018.
