Forest Fire Localized in Gori

A fire that broke out in woodland in Gori Municipality yesterday, near the village of Sakavre, has now been localized.

At the moment, firefighters and rescuers are working on the spot to completely extinguish the fire. 

Three border police helicopters were involved in firefighting operations since morning, one up from yesterday.  

As reported by the Emergency Management Service, the situation is currently under control.

Firefighting operations were actively carried out during the last night. 10 firefighting and 3 rescue vehicles and up to 250 firefighters and rescuers were involved in the process.

According to the Emergency Management Service, heavy smoke was observed in an area of 40 hectares, however, the fire area does not exceed 10 hectares in total.
