European Georgia Party Boycotts Hearings of Ministerial Candidates

The “European Georgia” political party will not attend the hearings of ministerial candidates which will be held at the Parliament of Georgia over the next few days, Sergi Kapanadze, one of the members of the party told journalists before the session today.

"Today, the so-called 'new government' proposed by Bidzina Ivanishvili is launching committee hearings, where they will present a governmental program. We are not going to take part in the discussion of the program because nothing has changed in the views of this government. It was a political move by Ivanishvili to provoke the public by appointing Gakharia as the Prime Minister. Of course, there are no new ideas or new solutions offered to solve the current problems. Therefore, we will not attend these committee hearings and we will not ask any questions to the Foreign Minister nor to any other minister, "said Kapanadze.

Yesterday, the autumn session of Parliament was opened by the protest of members of the opposition European Georgia party, who started whistling to protest the changes in the cabinet of ministers.

In response, the Chairman of Parliament, Archil Talakvadze, forced them to leave the session hall.

Today, the members of the Parliament will hear the presentation of the governmental program of the Acting Foreign Minister David Zalkaniani.
