Court Discusses Case of 7 Persons Arrested on June 20
Today, the Tbilisi City Court is to discuss the case of 7 persons who were arrested on June 20 in front of Parliament.
The defense and prosecution will deliver an introductory speech at today's court session.
The issue of the seven still in custody was reviewed at a previous hearing. The Court ruled that their imprisonment remained in force.
Prior to the hearing, the demonstration titled "Gavrilov's Prisoners" was held in the courtyard of the court.
All 7 were detained for group violence against police during the June 20 rally while protesting the visit of Russian MPs in Georgia.
The MIA says the detainees verbally and physically attacked police while trying to forcefully enter the parliament building.
The June 20-21 rallies in central Tbilisi left 305 detained and 240 injured.
Three police officers were detained in July for the abuse of power during the rallies.
