US Embassy: Visit Shatili, One of Georgia’s Autumn Destinations
The United States Embassy to Georgia promotes Shatili, a historic highland village near the border with Chechnya, as one of the country's autumn destinations and encourages travelers to visit this historic place.
"We must always keep moving forward to reach our goals, whether crossing the Atsunta Pass to reach Shatili, or to keep our democracies strong and vibrant!” the United States Embassy to Georgia wrote in a Facebook post, adding the photos depicting the breathtaking and exotic beauty of Shatili landscapes.
The US Embassy also cited words of prominent Georgian writer Ilia Chavchavadze: “Movement and only movement is, my Tergi (name of a river in the Northern Caucasus, which originates in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of Georgia), the source of the country’s strength and life…”
The campaign aimed at encouraging travelers to visit the country, titled #SpendYourSummerInGeorgia, that was launched after the flight ban imposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, currently is not limited to only one season. It will continue during all four seasons as #Spend4SeasonsInGeorgia.
“We are ready for the autumn with fresh ideas, lots of energy and many new surprises for you!!! The campaign which has united thousands of people under one goal deserves to be continued. So, our new motto will be: Spend 4 Seasons in Georgia,” said the initiators of the campaign.
The campaign was initiated by five friends: Nini Mtchedlishvili, Keta Goletiani, Mari Jobava, Mariam Gujabidze, and Nini Noghashvili who created Facebook group “Spend Your Summer in Georgia” and achieved nationwide fame in the surprisingly short period of time.
The main aim of the authors of the idea was to highlight the role of tourism within the country and to represent Georgia most effectively and positively.
