18 Years since 9/11 Tragedy

Today, September 11, 18 years have passed since the series of coordinated terrorist attacks in America, when four transcontinental aircrafts departing from airports in the northeastern part of the United States bound for California, where hijacked by the 19 terrorists of Al Qaeda. Two planes hit the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York and demolished them, while the third flew into Pentagon. The fourth flight was set to crash into the Capitol Hill in the Washington DC, however, the passengers managed to overpower the hijackers with their courage and downed it in a field in Stonycreek Township near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The tragedy took the lives of 2,977 people and injured over 6,000 in total. The terrorist attacks also caused the casualties of 343 of firefighters and 72 law enforcement officers.

The 9/11 incident is remembered as one of the largest and deadliest incidents in the history of the USA, as well as the entire world.
