Highest Harvest Rate in Past 30 Years in Kakheti

Grape harvest (“Rtveli” in Georgian) is in the active phase in Kakheti, Georgia’s main wine-producing region. Over 9,000 tons of grape have been processed there during the grape harvest 2019 in the past 24 hours, which is the highest rate of harvest over the last 30 years.

“Staff of the special grape harvest coordination center is mobilized on the spot to prevent large queues near wine enterprises due to such a high processing condition,” the National Wine Agency of Georgia reports.

As of September 16, around 54,000 tons of different grape varieties have been processed throughout the region, in particular: 35, 000 tons of Rkatsiteli, 14,000 tons of Saperavi, 2,700 tons of Kakhetian Mtsvane, etc.

Up to 6,000 winegrowers have delivered grapes to enterprises so far.
