Euronews Georgia to Start Broadcasting
Euronews Georgia has officially been established and is to start broadcasting, with an agreement signed by Michael Peters, CEO of Euronews and George Ramishvili, Chairman of Supervisory Board of Silknet. The event was attended by Salome Zurabishvili, President of Georgia, and Carl Hartzell, Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia.
Peters noted that “After only a few months of negotiations, I am very pleased that we reached an agreement to launch Euronews Georgia." He added that the Georgian branch of Euronews will be an independent media platform, delivering unbiased information to the public.
Ramishvili also expressed his excitement at introducing Euronews Georgia and stated the channel will contribute to the development of this field in Georgia.
The editorial board of Euronews will be tasked with determining the strategic directions of operation and regulations for balanced broadcasting, fully corresponding with the fundamental values and principles of media, including independence of editorial policy, freedom of expression and impartiality.
The recruitment process is to start in the near future, for nearly 50 workplaces.
