President Zurabishvili on Importance of Healthcare for Georgian Gov’t
President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili is paying a working visit to the USA, within the scope of which she is set to participate in the 74th General Assembly of the United Nations and deliver speech on September 25.
Yesterday, September 23, Zurabishvili attended the high-level meeting on Universal Healthcare Coverage taking place under the aegis of the United Nations, and addressed the audience.
“Healthcare is a political choice of the Georgian government,” stated the President, noting that it is of vital importance to strengthen the field of the primary healthcare to ensure the easy access to medical services for the population of the country.
While delivering a speech, Zurabishvili accentuated the reforms and initiatives carried out by the government of Georgia in this direction, saying that the 90% of population is already enabled to use all the necessary healthcare services. She particularly focused on the Hepatitis C elimination program, successfully carried out in Georgia since 2015.
Finally, the President of Georgia spoke about the residents of the occupied regions of the country, who are deprived of access to the universal healthcare.
