Man Falls in Coma after Killing Ex-Wife in Kakheti
A middle-aged man accused of killing his ex-wife remains in intensive care in a Telavi hospital, in Georgia’s Kakheti region. Doctors say that he underwent surgery and is currently in a coma, having suffered self-inflicted wounds to the face.
The incident took place in Telavi, on Chonkadze Street yesterday. Locals say the man shot his wife dead and then tried to commit suicide.
The reasons behind the murder are not known at this stage. Unconfirmed reports say the man wanted to restore relations with his ex-wife, however, she refused and he killed her.
The relatives of the deceased note that she had lived abroad for the last 10 years and had just returned to Kakheti.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that the investigation is underway under Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages premeditated murder in aggravated circumstances.
