Tbilisi to Host Kirie Art Exhibition
The Georgian National Museum will host Japanese artist Shu Kubo’s exhibition, taking place on November 4th at the Shalva Amiranashvili Museum of Fine Arts at 18:00.
The artist’s unique style, where he cuts out paper incredibly delicately and then hand paints, creates a wealth of depth in his colourful pieces depending on the theme of his works. He recently improved and expanded his techniques by combining Japanese Washi paper with Western materials.
He travelled around Japan with his theme ‘Japanism in Paper’ and created numerous amazing works. His first exhibition debuted in 1977 in Osaka and since then he has become famous all over Japan. Kubo is a renowned Kiri-e artist and became a special advisor for the cultural exchange of the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2009.
The exhibition will run from November 4th – 11th and will feature a range of works of Kiri-e art.
