MIA Arrests Four for "Criminal World" Membership

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has arrested four persons in Tbilisi and Akhaltsikhe on charges of the membership of the “criminal world” and appealing to the so-called “thief in law” (high-status criminal).

Deputy Interior Minister Vladimer Botsvadze stated at today’s briefing that MIA continues to fight against the criminal world, the purpose of which is to put an end to the criminal world and the criminal mentality in the country.

"Police officers, along with the Prosecutor General's Office, have arrested four people on charges of membership of the "criminal world "and appealing to “thief in law” on the basis of a judge's ruling, as a result of special operative activities carried out in Tbilisi and Akhaltsikhe.

I.K. (born in 1976) and G.G. (born in 1982) have been arrested on charges of the membership of the “criminal world”, while G.M. (born in 1979) and K.A. (born in 1981) have been detained on charges of appealing to so-called “thief in law”. The offense committed by them envisages from 3 to 10 years of imprisonment,” he elaborated.
