PM Gakharia Affirms Full Support of NBG Policies

The recent policies of National Bank of Georgia, including the wage rate increase, interventions and more importantly decreasing the reservation demands in a different currency other than Lari, is fully supported by the Government of Georgia – declares the PM of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia. According to the PM, the ministries must start to collaborate on these issues according to their areas.

“We have a lot of economic challenges, for example, the Lari exchange rate, which we know directly affects the social setting of our citizen's lives. I want to confirm the daily coordinated cooperation between the Government and the National Bank of Georgia, will become more effective. By these initiated policies and efficiently operating mandates, we have unrestrained GEL 700 million worth of exchange rate reserves, which has to directly flow into our economy. The Government of Georgia will start direct meetings with the business sector to reduce the restraining factors, which can lengthen the process of implementing these reserves to the everyday economy. This is our collective task for the near future, and each ministry must work in the direction of their own sector,” Gakharia stated.
