Finance Minister Meets with World Bank Representatives
At the meeting with representatives of the World Bank, Ivane Matchavariani, Minister of Finance of Georgia, discussed cooperation between Georgia and the World Bank in the sustainable development direction.
The delegation of the Bank was headed by Sebastian Molineus, World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, and Steven Schonberger, World Bank Regional Director for Sustainable Development.
At the meeting, the Finance Minister introduced the country’s economic condition and the reform plan of the government. The discussions also covered the priorities of the 2020 budget, including in sustainable development.
The representatives of the World Bank positively evaluated the flow of the projects supported by the World Bank and carried out in the direction of urban and sustainable development.
The Bank Regional Director congratulated Georgia on success obtained in the survey of the World Bank entitled Worldwide Governance Indicators (WGI) 2019 and noted that through these figures Georgia has been included in the list of leading reformer countries.
At the meeting, the parties expressed hope regarding the further enhancement of cooperation between the parties. The Bank represents one of the country’s major donors, having allocated, in 25 years of partnership, nearly $4.3 billion investments in Georgia.
