Georgia Warns its Citizens over Expected Typhoon in Japan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Georgia to Japan have warned Georgian citizens in Japan, about the powerful typhoon expected to hit the island of Honshu on October 12-13.

Typhoon Hagibis, which it is feared could dump torrential rain on a level not seen since the deadly typhoon of 1958, is expected to approach the region from Friday evening and make landfall Saturday evening, before passing east of Hokkaido into northern Japan on Sunday afternoon, reports the Japan Meteorological Agency.

The Embassy of Georgia to Japan urges citizens to follow security norms and abstain from leaving their houses on October 12-13. If needed, citizens can contact the embassy hotline: +81 70 3180 560

"The Japan Meteorological Agency reports that a powerful typhoon is about to strike the island of Honshu, Japan. Citizens of Georgia currently in Japan, please follow the security norms, refrain from going out on October 12-13 and contact hotline: +81 70 3180 5601 if necessary," the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.
