School Building Burning in Shatili
The single school building is burning in Shatili, a highland village located in the historic Georgian province of Upper Khevsureti.
The video, depicting the fire, was spread in the social network by the user Pkhia Chincharauli.
The school had eight pupils in total.
''Three fire brigades are working on the spot. No one was injured in the fire," the Emergency Management Service reported.
The investigation will determine the cause of the fire.
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, has responded to the incident, promising construction of a new school in the village.
"We will build a new school in Shatili. Construction works will begin as soon as possible in accordance with climatic conditions, after which the village will have a new school of modern standards. Until the school is built, the teaching process will not be interrupted, the pupils will continue their studies in a temporary alternative building," he said.
