Turnava on Resuming Flights with Russia

Within the frames of the Silk Road Forum happening in Tbilisi, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava was addressed with a question regarding the flight ban between Russia and Georgia. The Minister said she’d welcome resuming flights between Georgia and Russia.

“We have already said this many times – the flight ban did damage to regular people, our families, small-scale businesses, hostels… It is for this reason that we would welcome it if the flights with Russia resumed,” answered Turnava.

She has reported that the appropriate air-services of the sides have exchanged views on the subject, but it is yet unknown when and in what form the flight ban might be canceled.

With Vladimir Putin’s initiative, the flight ban between Russia and Georgia has started on July 8.
