South Caucasus Regional Conference on Memory Politics
On October 21-22, Ilia State University of Tbilisi hosted the South Caucasus Regional Conference on Memory Politics.
Jointly organized by Ilia State University, the Heinrich Boell Foundation Tbilisi Office – South Caucasus region, and Soviet Past Research Laboratory (SOVLAB), the South Caucasus Regional Conference on Memory Politics presented professional speakers to the engaged audience. The main aim of the conference was to discuss memory politics and our current approach to rethinking the Soviet Past, as well as the memory studies in three countries of the region.
The South Caucasus Regional Conference on Memory politics allowed researchers, academics, and students to share their studies and knowledge, experience working on different topics of memory politics with each other. The international participants also looked over the challenges that are connected to historical research and memory studies such as the openness/accessibility of archives, lack of funding for research institutes, etc.
The event was open for everyone. The languages of the event were Georgian, English, and Russian.
