Fine for Violation of Parking Rules Increases to GEL 50
"The fine for violation of parking rules will be increased from GEL 10 to GEL 50," Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said at today's government session while speaking about the details of the relevant amendments to the law.
“The fine for violation of parking rules was GEL 10. We submitted a bill to Parliament and demanded that the fine be increased. Yesterday, Parliament approved the bill and now the fine is GEL 50. The main motive for increasing the fine is regulation of the transport system and the fact that the city already has an hourly parking system,” he said.
The Tbilisi Mayor also spoke about changes to the rules of payment of fines and noted that the information would be posted on a special website.
“In addition, it is important to note that those who pay the fine within 10 days will receive a 20% discount,” he said.
On August 1, 2019, an hourly parking system was launched in Tbilisi. A pilot project was first launched on Kote Abkhazi (former Leselidze Street in Old Tbilisi) and nearby streets.
