One Arrested outside Apollo Cinema in Batumi
One person has been detained outside the Apollo Cinema in Batumi, where demonstrators are protesting the screening of the first Georgian film about gay love, titled ‘And Then We Danced.’
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that the demonstrator verbally insulted the moviegoers for attending such a ‘sinful’ movie.
The detainee, charged with minor hooliganism, has been taken to the police station.
Law enforcers are mobilized on the spot to ensure public order and safety.
Yesterday, a total of 28 people were detained at rallies in front of the Tbilisi and Batumi cinemas.
"One person was arrested for a criminal offense and 27 for administrative offenses," reads the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The MIA launched an investigation into four incidents that occurred at the protests during the screening of the film.
