Tskhinvali Issues a Statement on Dr. Gaprindashvili
The State Security Service (КГБ) of the self-proclaimed republic released information on Doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili, in which they claim that the Doctor was an active participant in the 2008 Russo-Georgian War and represented Georgian Armed Forces as a military reserve doctor.
“on November 9, Georgian citizen, Tbilisi-based doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili infringed the border between Georgia and South Ossetia, near the village of Orchosani, Akhalgori region. Based on factual intelligence, he represented Georgian Armed Forces as a military medic, and served as a reserve captain, who actively participated in the 2008 August events as a doctor,” states the so-called КГБ of South Ossetia.
As a reminder, on Novmeber 15, Gaprindashvili was sentenced to two-month pretrial custody for “illegally crossing the border” by the Russia-backed Tskhinvali region/South Ossetian authorities. The Doctor was detained while on his way to visit a patient.
