Giorgi Rurua Sent to Pre-trial Custody

The Tbilisi City Court ordered pre-trial detention for Giorgi Rurua, one of the shareholders of Mtavari Arkhi TV, who was arrested on November 18 for illegal possession and carrying of a firearm.

“You are Ivanishvili’s slaves,” Rurua’s supporters shouted after the judge announced his decision.

Illegal possession and carrying of a firearm is punishable by a fine or imprisonment of up to three years. The crime envisages 4 to 7 years of imprisonment.
