Increase in International Visitors to Georgia
Georgia saw almost half a million visitors in October, a 7.3% increase compared to the same month last year.
The Information-Analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said 504,450 people crossed the border last month in their latest monthly report, .
In total 178,387 were tourists (3.8% more than in 2014), 130, 116 were transiting (17,3 percent more than in 2014) and about 200,000 people came for other purposes (4.5 percent less than in October, 2014).
In addition, the Interior Ministry announced that, during ten months of 2015, 4,995,489 visitors arrived to Georgia, which is 6.8% more than the same period of last year.
In September alone most visitors came from Turkey, a fall of 3.7 percent. Russia is second (+15.3%), followed by Ukraine (+10%), Armenia (+9.2 %) and Azerbaijan (+5%).
A positive tendency is also seen in connection with EU countries, with an increasing number of arrivals to Georgia from January-October period. The following countries lead: Lithuania (19%), Italy (14%), Germany (11%) and Latvia (11%).
The number of arrivals to Georgia from Belarus saw a 53% increase, the United Arab Emirates saw an increase by 76% and Saudi Arabia an 77% increase. Visitors from Israel increased by 34% and from the USA 10% more visitors visited Georgia.
