Six Demonstrators Arrested at Protest Rally near SSSG

6 demonstrators have been arrested at a protest rally near the State Security Service of Georgia in Tbilisi. Beka Natelashvili, son of Shalva Natelashvili, the leader of the Labor Party, was detained along with members of the movement 'Dare'. Among the detainees are Nika and Beka Petriashvili, members of the United Georgia - Democratic Movement.

Protesters repeatedly tried to block the entrance to the building. They then moved to Vazha-Pshavela Central Avenue to block the road, which resulted in a confrontation between activists and police officers.

All detainees are charged with disobeying the police.

The protests in Tbilisi were sparked after the rejection of the election bill last week, proposed by the ruling Georgian Dream party, offering the transition to a fully proportional electoral system from 2020 instead of 2024.
