Former Minister of Defense Sentenced to Imprisonment in Robakidze Case

The former Minister of Defense Irakli Okruashvili has been remanded in custody as a preventive measure on charges of exceeding official powers into the high-profile murder case of Amiran (Buta) Robakidze in 2004. The decision was announced by Judge Arsen Kalatozishvili.

As for former Prosecutor General Zurab Adeishvili, the date of his pre-trial procedure was set at today's hearing.

The state prosecution demanded that Okruashvili be remanded in custody. The defense disagreed with the demand, saying no measures of restraint against Okruashvili are justified.
