Protesters Make Human Chain around Parliament

The demonstrators are again protesting against the failure of the parliament to adopt constitutional amendments on the transition to the proportional system in 2020. The central Rustaveli Avenue has been closed because of the rally.

Initially, traffic was partially restricted on Rustaveli, but after demonstrators marched from the First Republic Square to Parliament, traffic was completely cut off.

Opposition parties and their supporters made the human chain around the Parliament building, chanting 'Go' and 'Make A Change' while marching.

Students of Tbilisi State University are also participating in the rally.

Law enforcers and ambulances are mobilized near the parliament building.

Ex-President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili has also joined the rally.

"The plebiscite and these ideas offered by the Georgian Dream do not matter, it is only the will of the Georgian people that matters. The will of the Georgian people has not changed for the last 30 years. Proportional elections are a very clear agenda," Margvelashvili said. "Shah Abbas failed to break the will of the Georgian people and Ivanishvili, Kaladze and this group will not be able to do it either. The Georgian Dream must give up the fraudulent schemes and fulfill its promises," he stated.
