"As police move to break up protests in Georgia, Amnesty International has been clear: security forces must respect the rights of demonstrators to peacefully assemble and express dissent," Daniel Balson, Advocacy Director for Europe and Central Asia for Amnesty International, USA, said in a post on Twitter.

Balson noted that the US government representatives are closely observing the ongoing developments in Tbilisi, and the way security forces treat protesters "will be seen in Washington."
