Trams Decorated with Georgian Alphabet Launched in Strasbourg
To celebrate Georgia taking on the chairmanship of the Council of Europe, trams in Strasburg have been decorated with posters of the Georgian alphabet. The trams will run for 6 months with said decoration.
Georgian FM David Zalkaliani, CoE secretary-general and the President of the European Court of Human Rights took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony and took a trip on a tram.
From today until May 15, 2020 Georgia will chair the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE), a decision-making body composed of the ministers of foreign affairs of the 47 member states of the Council of Europe or their permanent representatives in Strasbourg.
Georgia takes over the chairmanship from France.
The Council of Europe is a leading organization for human rights, democracy and the rule of law, founded in 1949.
Georgia became a member of the Council of Europe on April 27, 1999.
