November 2019: Annual Inflation Rate Amounts to 7%

Monthly prices in Georgia increased by 0.9%, while the annual inflation rate amounted to 7%, show the latest inflation data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat). 

The rate is the highest after June of 2017.

Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages in Georgia increased by 1.2% compared to the previous month, contributing 0.41% of the overall monthly inflation. 

Monthly prices increased in the following subgroups:

  • Vegetables -9.3%
  • Milk, cheese and eggs - 2.7%
  • Coffee, tea and cocoa - 2.1%
  • Bread and cereals - 1.3%
  • Fish – 1%

Along with this, prices decreased for fruit and grapes by 5.8 percent.

An increase of monthly prices mostly occurred in the following groups:

  • Alcoholic beverages and tobacco - 2.0%
  • Recreation and culture - 1.7%
  • Clothing and footwear - 2.1%
  • Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels - 0.6%
  • Health – 0.5%
  • Transport – 0.3%

Monthly prices decreased in the following groups:

  • Furnishings, household equipment and maintenance - 0.2%
  • Restaurants and hotels – 0.3%
