Legal Affairs Committee Supports 14 out of 20 Candidates

The Committee on Legal Affairs voted for Supreme Court Justice candidates. Lawmakers supported 14 of the 20 candidates, including Prosecutor General Shalva Tadumadze and his deputy, Mamuka Vasadze.

The Committee on Legal Affairs supported the following candidates for the Supreme Court: Merab Gabinashvili - 7 votes, Miranda Eremadze - 6 votes, Mamuka Vasadze - 7 votes, Maya Vachadze - 7 votes, Tamar Zambakhidze - 8 votes, Shalva Tadumadze - 8 votes, Vladimir Kakabadze. 6 votes, Levan Mikaberidze - 6 votes, Giorgi Mikautadze - 8 votes, Nugzar Skhirtladze - 6 votes, Lali Papiashvili - 7 votes, Nino Kadagidze - 7 votes, Ketevan Tsintsadze - 6 votes, Alexander Tsuladze - 6 vote.

The committee rejected the following candidates: Tamar Alania - 1 vote, Gocha Jeiranashvili - 1 vote, Lasha Kochiashvili - 1 vote, Zaza Tavadze – 0 vote, Shota Getsadze - 1, Paata Silagadze - 2 votes.

Following the voting held at the Legal Affairs Committee, the Parliament will vote for the candidates at the plenary sitting. Independent and opposition lawmakers object to the committee's decision. They demanded that no candidate be supported, as they believe that the supported judges “fulfill political tasks and take illegal decisions”.
