Eka Beselia Quits Legal Issues Committee
"Since the Legal Issues Committee has officially become the branch of the ‘Clan’, this was my last meeting in this committee," independent MP Eka Beselia stated on Thursday.
She made the decision to quit the Legal Affairs Committee after Parliament approved 14 Supreme Court judges. Beselia called the Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee Anri Okhanashvili "an ugly servant of the Clan."
“I congratulate the Georgian Dream that it has officially legalized the deal with the violent past with this vote. The Clan has won both the Legal Committee and the majority of the Georgian Dream. Since the Legal Issues Committee has officially become the branch of the Clan, this was my last sitting in this committee,” she said.
The Parliament of Georgia approved 14 judges of the Supreme Court, including Prosecutor General Shalva Tadumadze (with 89 votes), deputy Prosecutor General Mamuka Vasadze (with 88 votes) and Secretary of the Supreme Council of Justice Giorgi Mikautadze (with 85 votes).
The lawmakers approved the following Supreme Court judges: Merab Gabinashvili - 86 votes, Miranda Eremadze - 83 votes, Mamuka Vasadze - 88 votes, Maia Vachadze - 90 votes, Tamar Zambakhidze - 89 votes, Shalva Tadumadze - 89 votes, Vladimir Kakabadze - 86 votes, Levan Mikaberidze - 89 votes, Giorgi Mikautadze - 85 votes, Nugzar Skhirtladze - 90 votes, Lali Papiashvili - 88 votes, Nino Kadagidze - 85 votes, Ketevan Tsintsadze - 85 votes, Alexandre Tsuladze - 87 votes.
