10 Forest Fires Raging Simultaneously throughout Georgia
"Currently, there are 10 active forest fires raging throughout Georgia, with fire burning bushes, grass, and leaves in all cases," reads the statement of the Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Agency reports that fire extinguishing works have been underway all night at the Armenian-Georgian border near the village of Irganchai. About 80 firefighters and rescuers are involved in the process. The fire has been localized.
Kvemo Kartli - fire is burning the lower layer of wood. About 150 firefighters are mobilized on the spot. Fire extinguishing works are underway.
Marneuli - Akhkerpi village. Fire is burning the lower layer of wood there as well. Employees of the Emergency Management Service work continuously on the spot.
Tianeti - Chabano Village. The forest fire has been localized. Liquidation works are underway.
Dusheti - the fire near the village of Akhali Toncha has been localized. Liquidation works are underway. 15 firefighters are working on site.
Tsalenjikha - grass cover is burning near the village of Muzhava, on the occupied territory of Abkhazia. Employees of the Emergency Management Service remain on the spot to conduct monitoring works.
Martvili - Baldi Village. Up to 50 firefighters are involved in the fire extinguishing process. Employees of the Emergency Management Service were on the spot all night. Fire elimination works were actively resumed in the morning.
Vani - Dzulukhi village. About 40 firefighters resumed work at the scene this morning. The situation is under control.
Tsageri - in the village of Sairme, fire is burning the lower layer of wood. There are 60 firefighters working on the spot. Fire extinguishing works are underway.
Lanchkhuti - about 100 firefighters are involved in the firefighting works in the village of Mamati. The fire is burning the low cover of the forest.
The Emergency Management Service notes that the situation is fully under control with all active fires. There is no danger of fire spreading to populated areas.
The Agency has called upon shepherds and hunters to exercise maximum caution to prevent fires, as “due to warm weather, the lower layers of woods are dry and easily catch fire.”
