MIA Detains 6 Drug Traffickers in Tbilisi

Six drug traffickers have been detained in Tbilisi, in Ponichala district this month, with a large quantity of drugs confiscated, the Georgian Interior Ministry reported today.

Based on the court decision law enforcers detained: A.J. 9DoB 1958), R.A. 9DoB 1981) H.J. (DoB 1970) K.J. (DoB 1974), A.M. (DoB 1992) and R.J. 9DoB 1976) who are being accused of illegal purchase-keeping and selling of drugs. The crime committed by the detainees envisages the term of imprisonment from 8 to 20 years or life imprisonment.

The investigation is in progress under articles 260, 261, 273 and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisaging selling drugs in especially large quantities, illegal purchase and keeping of Marijuana, firearm and armament.

The ministry says that since January 1, 2019, they have confiscated:

  • 31,000 pills of Subutex and suboxone.
  • 32 kg of heroin.
  • 2.2 kg of cocaine.
  • 22 kg and 10 liters of alpha PVP.
  • 25 kg of MDMA.
  • 10 kg and 500 gr of new psychotropic substance.
  • 2 kg of psychotropic drugs.
