First President’s Injured Son’s Condition Remains Grave
Tsotne Gamsakhurdia’s health condition remains critical after being wounded in Tbilisi last Thursday. However, there are some minor positive changes that instill hope, says the doctor, Nikoloz Kvachadze.
Pursuant to the claim of Gamsakhurdia’s wife, Ana Jabauri, negotiations are ongoing to transfer Gamsakhurdia to a foreign clinic; the Ministries of Health and Foreign Affairs are involved in the process.
Tsotne Gamsakhurdia was injured on December 19. Two persons have been charged with attempted murder; three for not reporting the crime.
Doctors performed two complex operations – one in the area of the heart and lungs, the second on the head. Gamsakhurdia’s condition is assessed as extremely serious.
The reason behind the attack is still to be revealed; Gamsakhurdia’s relatives, however, maintain that the attempted murder might be connected with his recent critical statements against the current government.
