Georgia’s Tourist Boom in 2019

For the first time in Georgia’s history, more than 9 million international visits have been figured in 2019, says Mariam Kvrivishvili, the head of the National Tourism Administration.

Inclusive of December 27, 2019, 9.3 million international non-resident travellers have visited Georgia. The increase is + 7.1% compared to the same period last year.

As for the tourist visits, 5 million tourists have visited Georgia, which is a 6.8% increase compared to the same period last year, reports the National Tourism Administration.

For the period January-November 2019, international travel income amounts to $ 3.051.424.548. The increase is + 35 million USD compared to the same period last year.

The tourist boom in 2019 further renders tourism one of the largest sectors of Georgia’s economy. The National Tourism Administration of Georgia summed up projects of 2019 and presented the statistics earlier today. 

The event was attended by Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava, representatives of various government agencies, private sector, diplomatic corps, donor organizations and the media.
