Traveler Awarded by Civil, Private Sector After His Bike Has Been Stolen in Tbilisi
"This is Georgian hospitality," Mariam Kvrivishvili, head of the National Tourism Administration, writes in the social network, posting a photo with a British traveler Rowan Campbell, whose bicycle has been stolen in Tbilisi a few days ago.
The bicycle of Campbell, who travels from Singapore to the UK, has been recently stolen in Georgia's capital.
“I've traveled in 11 countries, passed 7500km and would like to continue my journey. If I can't find my bike, my trip will end,” he posted in the social network.
However, the traveler deserved special attention and support from ordinary citizens of Georgia, who took the case close to the heart.
"Bike stolen update!
"What an insane last 24hrs. Since posting my story on a popular fb group in Georgia, my story went viral. I have been contacted and interviewed by several online news outlets and last night I conducted a TV interview which has hopefully increased my exposure. Today I will be meeting with several key officials from the Tourism board to see if we can do anything more to get it back."
"I have to say that if you're going lose bike anywhere then Georgia appears to be the place. I have been inundated with messag6es of support, offers of free accommodation and even money to pay for a new bike. Just have to say that I am very appreciative of all the support from across Georgia and the world. I really hope this can work to get the bike back," the traveler said earlier today.
“Our British guest, Rowan Campbell, has received many gifts from our citizens and the private sector. A new bicycle - from bikes.ge; two nights and traditional Georgian dinner at the Hotel Best Western Gudauri; 2 nights at Hostel Fabrika,” Mariam Kvrivishvili wrote in the social network.
