MIA Seizes 508 Subutex Pills at Tbilisi Int'l Airport

Officers of the Vake-Saburtalo Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia detained one person at Tbilisi International Airport as a result of operative-investigative activities.

Born in 1990, the individual A.Ts. was convicted in the past for illegal purchase and possession of a large amount of drugs and transferring them to Georgia.

“During the personal search of the detainee, law enforcers seized 508 pills of the drug Subutex and 3 pills of methadone. The investigation established that the accused illegally imported the drugs from the Republic of Turkey to Georgia. The detainee pleads guilty," the Interior Ministry said.

The investigation is in progress under Articles 260 and 262 of the Criminal code of Georgia, which envisages illegal purchase and keeping of large quantities of drugs and illegal import to Georgia. The crime envisages imprisonment from six to 20 years or life imprisonment.
