WHO on Coronavirus: the Whole World Must Take Action
Wednesday’s reports say that 130 people have died in China and up to 6 000 have been infected with the coronavirus.
The alarmingly quickly spreading virus has the World Health Organization meeting on Thursday, January 30, to discuss whether coronavirus presents a global health emergency.
In the previous meeting, the WHO said it was too soon to declare the virus an emergency for the whole world.
For now, the head of the WHO’s Health Emergencies stated that "the whole world needs to be on alert" to fight the coronavirus, BBC reports.
He also praised China's response to the deadly outbreak, saying: "The challenge is great but the response has been massive."
Dr. Ryan has reported that an international team of experts is being assembled in order to go to China and learn more about how the disease is transmitted while working next to the experts there.
The virus has spread to at least 16 countries globally and the vaccine remains unfound yet. However, a number of people have recovered after treatment.
