Govt' to Offer Natural Resources for Privatization to Business
"The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development will soon offer to business natural resources for privatization in addition to other state-owned assets offered through the '100 Investment Projects for Business' program," Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said at a government meeting today.
Head of the government noted that the above will create an opportunity for an additional 120 million GEL investment in the Georgian economy in the coming years.
Gakharia emphasized that the private sector is the main driving force for economic development and job creation in the country.
"Along with the initiative '100 Investment Projects for Business,' a very good new idea has been developed by the Ministry of Economy that will strengthen this direction. It is the same approach to natural resources as the proposal for 100 additional investment projects for the business. You know that natural resources management is one of our priorities. The state implements very important reforms in this field, the main aim of which is the effective management of mineral resources as well as environmental protection standards ", Prime Minister said.
The Ministry of Economy and the National Agency of State Property presented the list of 100 state-owned buildings the government offered local and international businesses for privatization in November.
Within the framework of the Project, several state-owned facilities have been purchased by private sector representatives.
