Two Chinese Citizens Admitted to Tbilisi Infections Hospital

On Friday, February 7, Amiran Gamkrelidze, Director-General of the National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) informed the press that two citizens of China had been admitted to Tbilisi Infections Hospital.

“These two citizens of China are employed workers at one of the biggest infrastructural projects in one of the regions, as far as we know,” said Gamkrelidze, not specifying the name of the employer.

He further stated that the epidemiologists have already tested the two Chinese workers and the results would be known by the end of the day.

One of the fastest spreading viruses of the 21st century, coronavirus emerged in Wuhan, China in December of 2019. Since then, it has killed 638 people, mostly in mainland China, trapped thousands in quarantine, and paralyzed the world's second-biggest economy.

Outside mainland China, it has infected over 31,000 in more than 25 countries, according to the latest reports.

No case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Georgia.
