Georgia to Begin Construction of Wind Farm

Georgia is preparing to begin the construction of a wind farm in February, 2016.

According to Tbilisi based Democracy and Freedom Watch, Georgia’s energy ministry announced a tender for building the country’s first wind farm.

Director of the Georgian Energy Development Fund, Giorgi Bezhuashvili, announced that the turbines are already in Georgia and the installation will begin on February 15th, 2016.

Bezhuashvili told journalists on Friday, that it has taken time to work out financing, but the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has promised to allocate more than €20 million for the construction of a wind power station in Gori, a town about 80 km west of the capital.

The 20 MW power plant will cost $34,300,000.
