Occupied Tskhinvali, Abkhazia Close Entrances to Rest of Georgia
So-called security councils of the de-facto regimes of occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) and Abkhazia have decided to close all "crossing points" with the rest of Georgia as a precautionary measure against the spread of the coronavirus.
The decision was made after the first confirmed case of coronavirus in Georgia on February 26.
"The Security Council of South Ossetia has decided to close all crossing points with rest of Georgia in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus," RES agency has reported referring to the so-called security committee.
The locals have been recommended to refrain from traveling to other countries.
In turn, the occupation regime of Abkhazia has restricted movement on the Enguri Bridge until April 7. The citizens of all countries, except Russia, are restricted to enter the territory of occupied Abkhazia until the mentioned date.
“The border crossing point with Georgia will be tightened and no one will be allowed to cross the border from both directions. Roughly speaking, quarantine has been introduced. The citizens of Russia can cross the border from the side of Psou,” the de facto Abkhazian Health Ministry said.
Those arriving from occupied Abkhazia are trying to go back by 17:00 since they do not rule out that the traffic will be completely suspended after this time.
