GEOSTAT: Economy Grew by 5.1 % in January
According to the preliminary data of Geostat, the Office of National Statistics, real GDP (GDP) growth in January 2020 was 5.1 % compared to the same period last year.
Growth was observed in the following realms: transportation and warehousing; construction and real estate; accommodation and food supply; wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; information and communication; electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and processing industry.
A decline was observed in the mining sector.
The National Statistics Office is an agency in charge of national statistics and responsible for carrying out population, agricultural and other censuses in Georgia. Its head office is located in Tbilisi.
Georgia is hoping for faster growth primarily through a continued effort to enhance infrastructure, boost support for entrepreneurship and improve professional education.
