First Case of Coronavirus Reported in Armenia
The Armenian Prime Minister said on Sunday that a passenger traveling from Iran had been diagnosed with the new coronavirus, confirming the first case had arrived in his country.
The Armenian government isolated 30 people, and closed schools and universities for one week, prolonging the winter vacations. They also canceled the national march scheduled yesterday to commemorate the 10 victims of the 1st March peaceful rally who were shot by the authorities 12 years ago this day.
The Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, gave a press conference to calm the public, while PM Pashinyan addressed the people during his Facebook live session regarding the situation and the steps initiated by the government.
"The infected person is fine," Pashinyan said, adding that they are looking for all those who contacted the individual.
