Coronavirus Update: 35 Persons Hospitalized in Tbilisi

According to the Director of the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Tengiz Tsertsvadze, there are currently 35 patients in the hospital, 16 of them new. All of them have taken the tests and are awaiting answers.

All three patients infected with coronavirus are in satisfactory conditions; they are under constant surveillance by doctors to prevent the aggravation of the disease.

“We have 3 coronavirus-infected patients. The condition of one of them qualifies as asymptomatic as the person has absolutely no symptoms. The condition of the two other patients qualifies as mild, as they have a temperature rise of 37-37.1 and a slight cough. At this stage, they do not require any intensive treatment, only thorough observation. This is essential because in the light of current practices in the world, even such slight onsets can turn into serious conditions within a week or so. For this very reason the patients are closely monitored’, said Tsertsvadze.

Three cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia so far. All of them are Georgian citizens, who had traveled to Iran and Italy.

Georgian citizens have been recommended to temporarily avoid travelling to China, Iran, South Korea and Italy amid the coronavirus outbreak.
